The months kicks of with the New Moon in Scorpio which will intensify the already tense and uncomfortable energy of Mars in Cancer, a sign where Mars is in its fall. Mars, at the final degrees of Cancer, is moving into opposition with Pluto, the ruler of the underworld, bringing a clash between emotional vulnerability and stark, unyielding truths. The tension around this new moon may lead to feelings of vulnerability, inner conflict, or a sense of being stuck, as Mars’ usual directness is hindered by Cancer’s indirect approach, leading to unresolved emotional turmoil and frustration.
Mars finishes the first leg of it’s retrograde journey through Cancer and moves into Leo. Mars will get a boost of bravado moving out detriment in Cancer and into the sign of executive control, but it will be for not. In early December Mars will station retrograde and 6 Leo to turn around careen back into watery Cancer in January 2025. Early degrees of fixed signs will feel the heat this month as Mars slows and comes to halt in early Leo. This marks an intensification of Martial Themes, particular when it comes to seeing projects through to there next phase. The smell of victory quickly fades for Mars as the reality of the situation sets in. For now patience and kindness will serve us better than ambition and drive.
Mars stations direct in February 2025 and will not complete his retrograde cycle and move into new territory until May 2025.
Venus spends the first half of the month in Sagittarius before continuing on into the mountainous terrain of Capricorn. The month kicks off with a Venus opposition Jupiter. Venus is receiving Jupiter by opposition so we get a dynamic combination here where Jupiter has the opportunity to express his natural expansive, good-natured philosophy in beautiful and passionate way that will be a moment of clarity in an otherwise bogged down period of minutiae and bureaucracy. The Moon comes in to highlight the moment a day later, helping to extend the assistance and afterglow.
Venus moves onto the practical, earth of Capricorn mid-month. Venus has dignity by triplicity and sect in Capricorn, so we expect a Venus well-equipped to plan, navigate and execute the material delights of the holidays around presents and parties. Venus is a bit more reserved in her expression of warmth in Capricorn and they may be for the best with post-election turbulence likely to be lingering with holiday festivities this year.
Full Moon in Taurus this month will be in lovely trine communion with Taurus domicile ruler Venus in Capricorn. In general, this bodes well for the independent agency of women and practical matters of food and administration. But, as much this Full Moon wants to be grounded, practical and relaxed; the conjunction with Uranus is the fly in the ointment here. Expect some surprises, good, bad and otherwise as we get the last Full Moon in Taurus while Uranus cohabitates the sign of the bull. The Promethean planet will likely be wrapping a bow on all the innovation and disruption he has been up to around routine sustenance, systems of value and practical pleasures. A great time to ponder how these topics have been renovated over the past 8 years.
Saturn stations direct in Pisces – Saturn’s ship starts to turn around and move forward again. What hard insights have we been contemplating and internalizing while the god of time and limits has slumbered? Saturn represents places in our lives where we have been limited or denied. While Saturn has been retrograde we have had some oppurtunities to see what growth and expansion could look like again. But with Saturn moving direct again we will need to take out the pruning sheers lest we miss the mark in his next routine inspection. Consider what things in the Pisces part of your chart could use some pruning as move into Winter.
At the end of November, Mercury stations retrograde in Sagittarius, creating an opposition with Jupiter, where both planets are in mutual reception (each occupying the other’s sign). This intensifies typical Mercury retrograde issues like technical problems and miscommunication, but with Jupiter involved—particularly while debilitated—there’s an added layer of trying to answer big questions without clear insight. The retrograde period will be fraught, but despite the difficulties, Jupiter and Mercury’s mutual reception can present “silver linings.” This connection between the two planets brings the potential for unexpected solutions and fresh insights, as they support each other while moving through their respective signs.
